FastPACS: Working with an Apostrophe
FastPACS: Working with an Apostrophe
Tuesday, December 27, 2011
Due to the structure of the internal FastPACS database, you will find that patients with names that include apostrophes (such as O’Malley, O’Leary or D’Augustino) do not appear when browsing studies with the FastPACS Web interface. This is because the web database does not recognize an apostrophe as a valid character.
There are two workarounds for this issue:
1) Do not use an apostrophe at all.
In this case O’MALLEY becomes OMALLEY and D’AUGUSTINO becomes DAUGUSTINO
2) Use a reverse apostrophe.
If you would rather use punctuation, use the reverse apostrophe which is located on the left side of standard keyboards and shares a key with the tilde:
Studies sent to FastPACS using the above methods will be visible with the web interface.
